How Mercari charges sellers

What is Mercari’s selling fee in 2026?
A flat 10% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, effective since January 6, 2025. The old separate payment-processing fee (2.9% + $0.30) was eliminated on the same date.
Why does Mercari’s fee include shipping I never receive?
When the buyer pays for a Mercari prepaid label, that money goes to Mercari — but the 10% fee base still includes it. On a $45 item with a $20.32 label, you pay 10% of $65.32 ($6.53), not 10% of $45.
Does the buyer pay fees too?
Yes — buyers pay a separate 3.6% Buyer Protection fee on the item price plus shipping at checkout. It does not come out of your payout, but it does raise the total price buyers see.
Is it cheaper for the seller to pay shipping on Mercari?
Paying shipping yourself shrinks the fee base to the item price alone, but you then buy the label from your payout. Whether it nets more depends on the label cost — this calculator lets you try both ways.
Didn’t Mercari remove selling fees at some point?
Briefly, in 2024 — then the current 10% structure arrived January 6, 2025, and existing listings were migrated to it. Guides still citing “zero selling fees” are out of date.
