How much does Etsy take from a sale in 2026?
Three fees stack on every sale: a flat $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping, and a 3% + $0.25 payment-processing fee on the same basis. On a $30 sale with free shipping, that is $0.20 + $1.95 + $1.15 = $3.30 total, leaving $26.70.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes — both the transaction fee and the payment-processing fee apply to buyer-paid shipping, not just the item price. A $100 sale with $5 shipping has a $105 fee basis: a $6.83 transaction fee plus $3.40 processing, on top of the flat $0.20 listing fee.
What is the $0.20 listing fee for?
Every listing costs $0.20 to publish or renew, charged whether or not it sells, and again each time it renews. It is separate from the two per-sale fees and is not refunded if the item never sells.
Is there a separate payment processing fee on Etsy?
Yes — 3% of the item price plus shipping, plus $0.25 per order, on top of the 6.5% transaction fee. Unlike eBay, Etsy never folded processing into one combined rate.
What is Etsy’s total effective fee rate?
The percentage fees alone approach 9.5% of the sale at higher amounts (6.5% transaction + 3% processing), but the flat $0.20 listing and $0.25 per-order pieces push the effective rate higher on cheap items — a $30 sale pays $3.30 total, an 11% effective rate.
